- In case you feel the mixture is a bit liquid and cannot shape into patties, add a bit of rice flour to it.

Press the dal with a paper towel, this will help in removing any water left in. Drain the water completely from the dal with a colander. If any water is remaining the vada will break apart. You can use an absorbent paper for this. In a mixer, grind the dal into a paste.
