Sundal is nothing but a simple South Indian salad made with different legumes like White chickpeas, black chickpeas ( generally termed as Kadalai Sundal. Channa sundal is a South Indian stir fried dish made with white chickpeas. sundal is basically a dry legume-lentil preparation spiced, tempered along with fresh coconut. Steps to make Chickpea Sundal:
  1. Soak Chickpea in water for atleast 5-6 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain and Cook Chickpea with fresh water and little salt in a pressure cooker to 3-4 whistles. Then drain the water and keep aside.
  3. To prepare tempering, heat oil in a tadka pan. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chilli, asafoetida and let it crackle. Switch off the flame and keep aside.
  4. Now in a big bowl, take cooked chickpeas, add seasoning, lemin juice, pomegranate pearls, coriander leaves, grated coconut and 2 pinches of salt. Mix everything well. Chickpea Sundal is ready.
