To get started with this recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have vegetable cake using 15 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.
The ingredients needed to make Vegetable cake:
- Get 1 cup semolina (sooji)
- Prepare 1/2 cup amul cream/ fresh malai
- Prepare 1/2 cup curd
- Prepare 1/4 cup milk
- Prepare 1 chopped onion
- Prepare 1 chopped capsicum
- Prepare 1 chopped carrot
- Prepare 1/4 cup sweet corn
- Get 1/4 cup green peas
- Prepare 1/2 tsp baking powder
- Make ready 1/2 tsp baking soda
- Take 1 tsp Oregano
- Get 1 tsp chilli flakes
- Get to taste Salt
- Get 2 tsp garlic ginger green chilli paste
Different from traditional carrot cakes, this cake is extremely moist and flavorful and is topped with a buttermilk glaze while still warm. Try it and I think you will agree that it is the best!! According to food historians, carrot cake is probably a variation of the carrot puddings that were popular in Medieval Europe. Since sugar and other sweeteners were precious at that time, enterprising cooks used the naturally sweet root vegetable as delicious substitute sweetener in many versions of a simple carrot cake recipe.
Steps to make Vegetable cake:
- Take a bowl and add semolina, curd, cream together and mix well. Cover it keep aside to rest for 15-20 mins
- Meanwhile, take a mould and grease it well from all sides with butter and also preheat your OTG @180° C for 8-10 mins.
- After 15 mins, add onion, capsicum, Carrot, sweet corn & green peas to mixture and mix well. (Keep some veggies aside from it for later use)
- Now add, baking powder, baking soda, salt, oregano, chilli flakes, black salt (spices should be according to your taste), ginger, garlic, green chilli and milk (you can add more milk if required to manange consistency) to it.
- Now, the consistency of batter should be slightly thick but pouring.
- Now, take your mould and pour all the batter to it and tap twice or thrice and add toppings of veggies which we earlier kept aside and sprinkle some oregano and chilli flakes over it.
- Now, final step of baking. put the mould in OTG @180° C for 30-35 mins.
- After time is over, check your cake from centre with the help of toothpick or knife. If it comes out clean, voila! Your cake is ready. If it still not cooked, you can put it again for more time.
- Once, it comes out clean, Take cake out and serve hot with sauces.
