- Get For Dosa
- Prepare 300 gms rice
- Prepare 100 gms urad dal
- Take 1 tsp fenugreek seeds

- Get 1 cup fresh grated coconut
- Make ready 1 tbsp roasted chana dal
- Prepare 2 green chillies

- Get 1 tbsp oil
- Prepare 1 red chilli broken
- Prepare 1 tsp mustard seeds
- Prepare 5-6 curry leaves
- Take 1/4 tsp asafoetida
Urad Dal Rice - A one-pot meal made with rice, urad dal, garlic and served with sesame seeds chutney. Saute them in oil for a minute. Grind everything to a slightly coarse paste by adding little. Coconut chutney is a south indian condiment made with fresh coconut, chilies, spices & herbs.
Steps to make Urad dal rice Dosa and Coconut Chutney:
- Soak urad dal with fenugreek seeds and rice saperately for 6 hours mimimum
- After 6 hours, drain and wash the lentils once.
- Grind both rice and dal saperately in a grinder adding little water. Let it ferment overnight keeping the batter in a warm dark place.
- Next morning add salt to the batter and mix. Grease a skillet and pour a laddle full of batter in circular motion to make dosa. Cook crisp from both sides and serve hot with coconut chutney.
- For coconut chutney. Take all the ingredients and grind in to a fine paste adding little water.
- For tempering. Heat one tbsp of oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, broken red chillies, hing and curry leaves and saute. Pour over the grinded chutney and mix.
The other varieties of coconut chutney are made with the addition of fried gram, chana dal, red chilies, shallots, garlic, coriander leaves, mint leaves.
