- Prepare 1 bay leaf
- Prepare 1 tbsp grated ginger
- Prepare 2 cloves
- Get 8-10 Tulsi leaves
- Prepare As per taste Palm sugar candy/ honey
- Take As per taste Black salt/pink salt
- Make ready 1 tsp Tea powder (optional)
- Get Few Lemon slices
- Get 1 tsp Crushed peppercorns
- Get As required Water
The importance of working on and improving our immunity has perhaps never been as important as it is today. Kadha is a Hindi word which means decoction. As the name suggests, it is an Ayurvedic concoction It is particularly helpful against viruses, fungi, bacteria and naturally boosts the immune system. This drink can also be stored (after it cools down completely) for up to two days in a sterilized airtight.
Steps to make KADHA - The traditional immune boosting drink:
- In a pan add water, 1 bay leaf, grated ginger, cloves, crushed black peppercorns and tulsi leaves and let it boil till water reduces to half.
- Now add in palm sugar candy,black salt/pink salt, little tea(optional) and let it boil for 5 more minutes.
- Strain the mixture in glass add lemon juice/sliced lemon or drizzle few drops of honey (if not adding palm sugar) before drinking and sip it slowly.
Drink the kadha two times a day for immunity, suggested chef Anahita Dhondy. Here's what the survivor Arshita B Kapoor had to say about the kadha, informed Dhondy: "This kadha is really a life-savour. Natural plants or herbs can boost the immune system to prevent infections. Since, there is no proof that the concoction will help the patients, kwath or kadha may serve as a 'feel-good' warm drink during a sore throat, which is better.
